About the First Author
The first author, Mark Edward Lawton, is the oldest of the five sons of the late, James Robert Lawton and Jeanne Gloria (Cashman) Lawton. Mark’s four younger brothers are: Thomas David Lawton, Richard James Lawton, Robert Sean Lawton and Paul Matthew Lawton.
Mark, is a Massachusetts attorney who served over twenty-seven years on the Massachusetts Trial Court after having been appointed by Governor Edward J. King at age thirty-three. At the time of his appointment to the bench, he and his father were the only father-son combination serving at the same time on the Massachusetts Trial Court. Mark, is married to the former Patricia Ann (O'Leary) Lawton, a popular former public school teacher and later an elected Plymouth County Commissioner. Mark, has enjoyed a life-long interest in genealogy. His father, Jim Lawton, asked Mark to write their family history. Mark, promised that he would. Jim wanted his grandchildren and his great grandchildren who were yet to be born, to know the story of their ancestors. This is Mark’s attempt to keep a promise that he made to his Dad.
Mark Lawton, knows very well that he is but the first of many authors of this family history. This history or biography shall continue to be written with and about and by the many generations that will follow.
